You can now sign up
and
look at the schedule of workshops
to be held during the "Quilts of East Africa" Exhibition in
October. As those of you know from last year's exhibit,
theses
unique classes fill up quickly. This is the only venue
to see these works of art in North America and the only
opportunity most of us will have to take these fabulous
workshops and to meet the wonderful quilters that will be coming
from East Africa. The classes taught by Canadian teachers
will have limited spaces for North Americans as we are saving
places for the Africans to take these classes.
Due to suggestions
last year we will have week long passes available for purchase.
There are limited seating for the twice daily slide show/lecture
so it is advisable that you buy an advance ticket for this.
Tickets are also available for the "Taste of Africa" evening on
Saturday, October 25th. Last year we were sold out and had
to turn people away. This is an opportunity to taste some
African foods, hear African music not to mention see who wins
the Viewer's Choice awards. If that isn't enough, we will
have an auction of African Quilts to raise money for
several African charities including Amani Ya Juu and the Roméo
Dallaire Foundation.
The Bernina "Spring
is in Bloom" flyer came out on Monday and will be in effect
until May 31st. If you have been thinking of buying a
Bernina now is the time - free gifts and great prices!!
Last month we
were on the twenty-third CBP retreat. It was absolutely
fabulous! I have put a couple of the
pictures
on the website - there will be more coming.
Jane Sassaman will
be here ilater today to teach two workshops. The first of the
workshops is called Suns and Moons: Machine Appliqué.
Although there is a fabulous finished project this is definitely
a workshop that will teach you many techniques that you will be
able to use in future projects; unfortunately this workshop is
FULL. We are taking a waiting list if you would like to be
on it please get in contact with us. There are TWO SPOTS left for Simple Silhouettes. You can have a look at the
samples
on the
special announcements
page and contact us as soon as possible to avoid
disappointment.
We were speaking to
Karen Stone last week and we have confirmed that she will be
teaching here from October 1 - 4, 2008. The classes will
be chosen later this month.
Many of you have
asked if we could inform everyone when we have demo sewing
machines available for purchase. As we do not keep any
machine for more than a year we often have these sewing machines
and sergers for sale. They are not used machines so they
come with a full warranty, lessons and Bernina/Pfaff Club. We have added a new
page for
demo machines that are for sale.
Our Bernina customers are really loving the BSR (Bernina Stitch
Regulator) and their new sewing machines. Not sure what
BSR is? Then click
here.
Our PFAFF customers are loving the new Creative Vision. We offer Owners Classes and
both Bernina and Pfaff Clubs free when
you purchase your sewing machine here.
We are back from
Kenya and it was the most wonderful trip we have ever had!!!
The country is beautiful, seeing the animals in their natural
habitat is fabulous and the people were warm and welcoming.
I have put a few of our pictures on the
Kenya page.
Garnet
finalized the plans for the
East African Quilt Exhibit
that will be held
here in October. All the classes including pictures of
each project plus the cost of the kit and/or the supply
list will be on the website by the middle of April.
There is a wide variety of classes and techniques that will be
taught here by both Canadian and Kenyan teachers.

that you have made from a kit or fabrics that you purchased here,
or from a workshop taken here, send us a digital picture with a
brief description and we will post it on this page.
The
class schedule, through to the beginning of July 2008 is on the class page. We also have a page
with our current
Kits and some class samples .
By request, Beve Jeffery is teaching her Ricky Tims Kaleidoscope
quilt, the picture of her quilts is on the class sample page.
We
are looking forward to meeting more of our
internet and quilt show friends at the shop over
the coming months. Ailsa Craig isn't hard to find
if you are in the area. Main Street is Highway #7
just north-west of London in Southwestern
Ontario.
Remember if you waste your time
dusting it will only return in a day or two so, you might as
well enjoy yourself and sew! We
look forward to hearing from you,
